Recognizing Three Outstanding Latinas of Imperial Valley

In October 2007 MANA of Imperial Valley honored Luz Elva Tristan, M.D., Dianna Seanez and Gloria Uribe Brister.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
  • Dr. Tristan, a local pediatrician, is involved locally with efforts related to childhood asthma and volunteers her time to educate parents and families about asthma issues.  She is also involved with a number of efforts such as raising awareness for opsclonus-myoclonus syndrome (OMS). 
  • Dianna Seanez, a local business owner, is dedicated to improving the lives of others in her community through her charitable contributions and philanthropic efforts.  She is active in the community as a member of the El Centro Regional Medical Center Foundation Board, local school districts, as well as the Make-A-Wish Foundation. 
  • Gloria Uribe Brister, a consultant and event planner, has been active in the community for a number of years with the Mariachi Festivals Sin Fronteras as well as the Volunteers of America and the Council for Multiple Sclerosis. 
 
All three women are very deserving of the annual Las Primeras Award.

In 2007 our premier event, Las Primeras, was coordinated by Executive Director of the Calexico Chamber of Commerce, and past Las Primeras honoree, Hildy Carrillo-Rivera. 

The event was held on Friday, October 26, 2007 at the Barbara Worth Country Club and Resort in Holtville.  

Each year MANA of Imperial Valley selects three outstanding Latinas for either outstanding achievement in their profession, exemplary record of community service and leadership, or for being the first Latina in their field.
